Do Organizations have houses?

We currently do not have a chapter houses on campus. This makes CSUMB fraternities and sororities much cheaper and safer. If you would like to live your brother/sister you are more than welcome to do that, of your own choice, but it is not a requirement for membership.  

How do I join a sorority/fraternity?

Reach out to their members, attend their events, and meet them during recruitment week. Dates and times can be found on their respective pages and the MGC instagram. Also one MGC social and one MGC informational must be attended.

What is the time commitment?

Commitment varies by chapter.The time spent in this program will give your student the opportunity to develop their leadership and time management skills, learn about the history of the organization, develop friendships, and allow them to become involved with other organizations. After initiation into a chapter, expectations will vary. Each chapter has weekly chapter meetings and other mandatory events (philanthropies, service, and chapter events) throughout the year, but they are planned well in advance.

What is the required GPA?

A 2.5 overall GPA is required.  

What are the benefits of Greek Life?

You will gain a deeper connection to the CSUMB community, filled with memories that will last beyond graduation.

You have the opportunity to grow and develop your professional and personal skills through hands-on experiences. These experiences include, but are not limited to, attending conferences, planning campus events, managing budgets, running meetings, participating in University trainings, doing service, and learning from chapter members.

You are deeply connected to the campus and Monterey County communities. CSUMB Greeks complete an average of 25 service hours each semester.

As alumnus, CSUMB Greeks benefit from a vast network for personal and professional support that extend across the globe.

Who is allowed to join?

Anyone! Some organizations have different requirements but anyone from first year students to transfers are allowed to join!

How much are dues?

Dues vary from each organization. Some dues are paid annually while some require a one-time lump payment. They range between $100 to even $1,000 as each individual organization has different dues. Some organizations have payment plans that can be set up. Be sure to contact the organization you are interested in to get more information
